We'll see how the latest restaurant in this location fares
By: specialj (84 experiences)We’ll see how the latest restaurant in this location fares. I had a good time but that may have been the company not the locale. While the service was good I was not particularly impressed with the food. I got a ravioli dish which was good but not particularly noteworthy, nor particularly filling. The cocktail menu was definitely interesting as it had a lot of relatively cheap drinks of the tropical variety. My drink was good if super sweet, and I expect that may be the case for a number of the cocktails. If I go back I may have to ask what the least sweet drinks are. Still the prices were lower than average so if you want cheap sweet tropical drinks Edge of Belmont would be hard to beat. Of course, since the place is new there may be substantial changes to the food and drink offerings. Apparently this is a good place for fish but I didn’t find the vegetarian options particularly compelling. I’ll keep it in mind for people in the mood for a Caribbean food and drink experience, especially for cheap tropical drinks.
we had a really good time here…
great signature drinks (strong and well-priced), really good fish (the tilapia and the grilled salmon), amazing service. seriously, the server/bartender was outstandingly affable and accommodating… he offered good drink suggestions and made experimental cocktails for us to try and generally seemed really happy to serve us, and more importantly seemed happy to be there. it’s always refreshing to see someone enjoy their job AND offer great service. he even told us about a song that was playing, the compilation it was from, plugged the local record store he got it at, and ended up giving us the cd since it was a burned copy.
the happy hour specials (drinks and food) are a really good deal.
the bar space is nice and cozy, with some little booths… the dining space is huge and bright, filled with artwork from local tattoo artists. very nice vibe all around.
the menu is very veg-friendly, but still has some tasty sounding chicken dishes, steak, and fish.
full menu/entrees til they close at midnight.
my only complaint/criticism: the veggies, offered as a side with the fish, were bad. bland mixed veggies from a frozen bag, surely. don’t know if this is typical, or the result of us being the only people who’d ordered entrees in hours. if they could get some decent local veggies and do something simple yet tasty as a side dish, this would be my new favorite place.
