service at petite provence
By: scrappy (82 experiences)i’ve heard wonderful things about this place.. their pastries and desserts are rumored to be top-notch. however…. i went in the other day to get some business information, and probably would’ve picked up a delicious-looking croissant to boot.
but i stood at the counter for probably 4 full minutes. waiting. as the 5 people who worked there busied themselves with ‘important’ customer service tasks such as wiping menus and labeling foods. i had employees walk by me, turn and look at me, actively ignore me… and none bothered to ask me what i needed or what i was waiting for. a big, open work area behind a bakery/patisserie counter usually gives a customer an inviting, participative sense of a place. it’s almost always a good thing. unless that is, employees use it as an excuse to ignore the customers on the other side.
has anyone else had this experience here, or am i alone?
