The best pizza in Portland

Apizza Scholls
The most decadent pizza can be found at Apizza Scholls. At least, that was my conclusion, which I believed my dining companions shared, after the last time I ate there. On a recommendation form a friend we ordered the Tartufo Bianco pizza with mushrooms. Truffle oil on pizza is so delicious I'm not sure I can do it justice in words. The staff at Apizza Scholls seem to take great care in their pizza making. Not only do the pizzas taste great (at least all of the ones I've sampled) but there is also a commitment to texture and appearance. The crust is quite crispy and the cheese is marvelously melty. There is a decent beer selection, I got the Paulaner Oktoberfest which augmented the meal nicely.
The main downside to dining at Apizza Scholls, as anyone who has been there can attest, is the wait. Luckily the last time we were there our wait was only 5 minutes or so. We went around 8 or 8:30 which I think is a good time to get there. The worst time to get there is right after opening at 5 when waits can be lengthy to even get a table and even longer to get food. Still, for anyone who likes good pizza, it might be worth the wait once in a while.
