Van Hanh, meaning 1,000 Blessing, is a 100% Vegetarian restaurant, all meats on our menu are made of tofu or gluten. We are also a non profit and volunteer based restaurant. Sister Co Thu (pronounced: Co Tu) is our chef and has brought all of her recipes from her homeland Vietnam.

All proceeds go directly to the operational costs of both Van Hanh Restaurant and Thien Quang Buddhist Temple at 6315 SE 82nd Street. Please feel free to ask for more information.

awesome vegetarian food

By: scrappy (82 experiences)

cozy little place with vegetarian goodness!
and really reasonable prices (most apps are under $3, and entrees are consistently $5.95 or $6.95)

recommended:
tofu spring rolls (light fresh and delicious)
the hot pot (careful, it is really spicy)
lemongrass tofu sticks (really tasty and filling)
veggie fish (nori-wrapped well-spiced goodness)
green bean dish (fresh tasting, despite saigon sauce)

Wheat gluteny goodness abounds!!!

If you are craving faux meat and lots of flavor this is definitely the place you’re looking for. It’s affordable, all vegetarian/vegan, nonprofit, and local. It’s run by a Buddhist nun who does all the cooking and all the profit goes to the local temple. I recommend the Lemon Grass Tofu Sticks Cay Xa Dau (mock chicken), Roasted Gluten Mi Can Ro Ti, and Kung Pao Combo.

Here’s their official website:
